Stress

What causes stress? Simple answer, not getting your way with things. On one of my previous blogs titled "Reality" posted on January 20, 2009 I stated that President Obama should know that reality is the leading cause of stress. I firmly believe that he has caused the American people the most stress they've experienced in quite a while with his Health Care bill that not even he understands and certainly not one congressman understands simply because most have never read  it and if they have would not be able to understand what it means. Like everything else this plan will cost the taxpayers so much "money" that we don't have never will have and neither will our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I could go on to ten generations and still not have the trillions of dollars repaid for the ineptness of this hair brained idea by the President who, I would assume is now experiencing stress from all the feedback not only from the health care bill but, from his approval ratings. Perhaps he should understand that talk is cheap but reality cost so much money.

I must say that the one thing President Obama and congress is not stressed about is their own health care for the rest of their lives.

Gun Control

My wife and I recently watched the movie Run Away Jury and I was impressed by a statement  Dustin Hoffman made about guns. Hoffman was the lawyer for the plaintiff. He said, "If we win the case there will still be killings." I have to agree with this statement. Every time I watch there is another shooting at a school or some other location. Hardly ever does anyone shoot at the assailants simply because they don't have a gun to shoot back with. People are allowed to have guns in my state but they cannot have loaded guns. The people that have loaded guns know that the people they are shooting at are not going to shoot back so its like shooting ducks on a pond. Seems to me like the sitting ducks should be able to shoot back and there would be fewer shootings because the bad guys are not very brave when people are shooting back.

Law enforcement people are trained to shoot and when to shoot all kind of weapons. There should be a disclaimer about when to shoot, because every time they shoot a bad person its their fault. The disclaimer should state an officer should not under any circumstances discharge their weapons until they themselves have been shot at least "3 times." Perhaps then there would be no law suits.

Rule of Law

Why would any President think that the Supreme Court Justice appointee should have to be a Woman, Man, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Protestant, Catholic and I could go on forever with this line of thought. After learning about the Supreme court Justices in grade school and how the court was suppose to work I automatically thought the President would appoint a person who would make decision based on the law, not make a new law to make the results biased.

According to all the news about appointee Judge Sonia Sotomayour my interpretation of the law is not valid. Judge Sotomayor was and is a very biased judge. Maybe she might get a free ticket to the Supreme court similar to the one Timothy Geithner received for his tax indiscretions. Our very, very, very liberal democratic congress approved Mr. Geithner, will they do the same for Judge Sotomayor? Let us pray that this will not happen.

Socialism

Margaret Thatcher once said: The problem with socialism is that that you eventually run out of other peoples money.

It seems as though President Obama thinks that we will never run out of money as long as the Treasury can print it. He keeps using the personal pronoun "I" will do this, not we will do this. I wonder if he just takes it for granted that the congress will just sit by and let him continue using "I"? My old coach used to say that there is no "I" in team. I tried to put an I in the word but the spell checker just plain out will not let me. Maybe the spell checker will let me spell egotist; Yep, it did. I rest my case.

Some Things Never Change

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." CICERO, 55 BC

Well, well, well, from a historical point of view Cicero was definitely right. but, his words of wisdom was ignored by officialdom then just as the words of cease and decease were ignored by officialdom in this century were ignored. Such as Oliver North's warning about Al Quada, Alan Greenspan's warning of Irrational Exuberance and I could go on and on about warnings that officialdom has ignored.

History will repeat itself.

Old Friend

A truly great line about Tom Daschle from the New York Times Yesterday.
The nominee for secretary of health and human services ought to withdraw his name and let the president choose a less-blemished successor.
Where on earth would the president find a less-blemished person in todays day and age?
I wonder if the president read the following article from the London Times; if not perhaps he should.

An Obituary printed in  the London Times......... Interesting and sadly
rather true

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend,  Common Sense, who
has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was,
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He
will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain;  Why the early bird gets the
worm;  Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't  spend
more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children,
are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy
charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended
from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the
job tha t they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly
children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could
not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an
abortion..

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses;
and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by
his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son,
Reason...

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Atlas Shrugged

Stephen Moore's article "Atlas Shrugged": From Fiction to Fact in 52 Years in the January 9th issue of the Wall Street Journal is a truly amazing article. He simply stated the fact that what Ayn Rand wrote 52 years ago is now a fact. I  find it uncanny that the words she wrote then we are living now.

I wonder if President Obama will be looking for a man like John Galt (who resisted their assault on capitalism) to help him get out of this mess? Mr. Moore said," that when the economy had been rendered comatose by all the great economic minds in Washington,  out of desperation they asked John Galt to help them get the economy back on track." This is how the discussion with Galt went.

Galt: "You want me to be Economic Dictator?"
                                                                                          Mr. Thompson: "Yes!"
"And you"ll obey any order I give?"
                                                                                         "Implicitly!"
"Then start by abolishing all income taxes."
"Oh no! screamed Mr. Thompsom, leaping to his feet.
"We couldn't do that...How would we pay
                                                                                             government employees?"
                                                                                           "Fire your government employees."
                                                                                           "Oh, no!"

Maybe the governor of California should read this little excerpt; it just might give him a clue on how to handle the $42,000000000
deficit. Perhaps Obama"s selected congress might gain some insight on how to handle the $2,000000000000 difict if they took the time to read Atlas Shrugged.

Please notice that President  Obama gets 3 more "zeros" than Governor Schwarzenegger.

Meetings

Economist Peter Drucker once stated that "one either works or attends meetings." President Obama falls into the latter category.

He is as I speak attending meetings with his Clintonian cabinet and advisors who were taught by none other than the great, Billy Jeff aka Bill Clinton. You all know who I mean, the guy who had to have a certain word defined so that he would know the true meaning of this word that the writers of sitcoms, movies and mundane other things write about; the word that parents of small children have a hard time explaining with a straight face.

A person might just have a seed of doubt about said advisors and wonder if Billy Jeff taught them the meaning of the word that had to be taught to him?

Reality

Well its, official we now have a new President and I pray that he will be able to fulfill at least one or two of the things that he has promised this nation and the world. After todays whirlwind day that is just now winding down with all the Inaugural Balls. President Obama will be asked to dance at everyone of them so he and Michelle will be very tired tonight when they sleep in their new bedroom.

When he wakes up tomorrow and realizes where he is, and the responsibility that comes with the right to sleep in the White House it would behoove him to say to himself when he looks into the mirror "good morning Mr. President."

I would imagine he knows that reality is the leading cause of stress. Perhaps we should pray that he can handle the stress, because we all know that after he greets himself in the mirror it will be all down hill from there.

Flying

I would only hope and pray that the next time I fly anywhere that the Pilot will be as well trained  as "Capt. Chesley B. Sullenberger."
